David Einhorn an influential hedge fund manager is calling for Ballmer the CEO of Microsoft to step down. Stating that the Ballmer is stuck in the past and a lot of it seems to deal with the fact that it failed to attack new internet and mobile computing markets and giving it up to Apple. It has been said that privately there have been a lot of critics of Ballmer and the direction Microsoft has gone, but Einhorn are public and very critical from a high profile investor.
Speaking at the annual Ira Sohn Investment Research Conference in New York on Wednesday, Einhorn said it was time for Ballmer — who succeeded co-founder Bill Gates in 2000 — to step aside and “give someone else a chance.”
“His continued presence is the biggest overhang on Microsoft’s stock,” he said.
